Papervision3D: Dynamics Demo

Finally after some time, I managed to get back into Papervision3D sound and safely :). I wanted to continue the WingZero project, but reckoned I need a particles generator before getting doing the missiles. So this is a little experiment that I've developed, which once optimized will be integrated into the WingZero game.

Well, I followed quite closely the notion of a particle system from 3DS Max. So, it allows me to specify the radius angle of the particle spray, particle size, speed, rotation, etc. I can also set the particle to move in wobbly motion. I can also set each particle to vary from the original size, speed, and etc, which creates a more disordered, thus more natural, effect.

Well, enuf said. Have a go and feel free to post any comments, suggestions, critics, etc.

Sketch: Mii-chan Full Height

I wasn't feeling well when I drew this. But I just wanna test draw the full height version of mii-chan. It's kinda weird though, usually I'd go from drawing the full-height version and then the chibi version. But anyhow, the result turns out like this. Please feel free to comment. Any suggestions or critics are highly welcome :)

A Magical Night in Fantasia 2007

I consider myself lucky to be able to enjoy a three full hours of brilliant musical performance on japanese anime and games. All the songs were arranged and performed in a very vibrant orchestration of something that, I believe, have a different, or if at all better, from the original soundtracks. I know, i know!! I'm just probably exaggerating here. But definitely the Eminence Symphony Orchestra was one of the most synchronized and lively orchestra I've ever been to (I've only been to three so far).

Although I'm not familiar with most of the songs played during the concert, it was quite easy to relate the song to the anime/game as their visuals were revealed on the big screen while the music was playing. Out of all, I had only known three songs, from FF7, Chrono Cross, and Mario Bros. They did know how to "save the best for last". The official last song of the concert was a credit/staff-roll theme from Kingdom Hearts. I was a bit disappointed on this. Not because they didn't play well. They did! It was just that I never played Kingdom Hearts, thus I wasn't familiar with the song. But!!! Someone from the last row shouted "ENCORE!!", followed by the rest of the audience. Have you ever wondered when every time something like this happened that it was all just an act? That the guy might just be one of the guy they hired to shout "ENCORE!!"???? I know, i know! I'm just being a nitwit. Go away evil thoughts!!!

Anyway, so they played the encore. The song was from Chrono Cross (the second song that I know throughout the whole concert). It was very well played. But it wasn't this one that really impressed me. After the song finished, the conductor told us they were going to throw in another encore, this time the choir included. I wondered... *doki doki* ... just right after they played the second bar count, I know straightaway. It was the Sephiroth theme from FF7!!!!! It was one of my most favourite songs of all time. Holy cow!! To think that I could finally hear the orchestral version of Sephiroth, that really made my night! I could ask for nothing else from this concert. I really wanna thank you Eminence for being so kind to throw the Sephiroth theme at the end. That was a really good closing encore. For sure I'm going again next year :)

Well, if you're going too.... let me know :)

Sketch: Chibi Michiko-chan V2

Another attempt on chibi Michiko-chan. I kinda like this version better. But what do you think?

Oh yes, click on the image plizz, it's better. I dunno why, but everytime I uploaded a picture, it just automatically resizes it badly. *sigh*

Sketch: Chibi Michiko

The chibi version of my girlfriend. I'm not sure if this is the correct chibi style. I originally intended to draw a kiddy version, but ended up like this. I just watched a newly released anime called ichigo mashimaro (strawberry - marshmallow). All the characters in it are cute kids, well, most of them actually, with one adult sister. They are just soo cute, despite the opening theme song going like "Kawaii nante sonna koto iccha dame desu" ("You mustn't call us cute").

New Manga Sketch: Singer

This weekend somehow I've got this sudden urge for drawing manga. For all my past works , I've drawn mostly simple figure poses. This time, however, I wanted to try something different. Something with more action and movement in it. So far, I've done only the basic sketch of the figure, with basic facial and hair outlines.

Up to this moment, I'm still avidly flipping through the manga costume encyclopedia looking for the best mix-and-match costume for the character.

WingZero Game Demo

This is a little game demo that I've been experimenting on for the past few days. It was done on ActionScript 3 and PaperVision3D, a really cool real-time 3D engine for Flash. This game is still under development, though, so don't expect to see any explosions or shooting missiles and all. Before you try, here's the control scheme so far:

  • Mouse - move jet fighter
  • Mouse left button - fire bullets
  • '1' key - HIGH graphics quality
  • '2' key - MEDIUM graphics quality
  • '3' key - LOW graphics quality
  • '4' key - show/hide FPS counter
Enjoy!

What is this blog about?

Hello world!!! I thought I'd start off this blog by explaining what it is about. This blog will host all kinds of arts and programming experiments that I am doing on my leisure. I will try to update it as much as I can so please share your thoughts, ideas, and opinion on anything that you'd see here.

Cheers,
